FIRST PROJECT SYMPOSIUM IN VIENNA

The first general project symposium of the European eCompetence Initiative took place on 28 - 29 September 2004 in Vienna and was hosted by our Austrian partners, the IFF.

The aims of the first symposium were:

  • to give an overview on project aims
  • to agree on our project mission
  • to start team building
  • to develop action plan groups

The concrete interests and needs of each partner were defined in the action plans produced, which will serve as a basis for the setup of workgroups and forthcoming project activities.

The linked Vienna synthesis pdf file summarises the major symposium outcomes.

VIENNA SYMPOSIUM OUTCOMES

Discussions during the symposium were based on the effective eCompetence practices that had been collected with our first questionnaire. The core outcomes of the symposium can be summarised as:

a. project research activities

  • broaden the effective eCompetence practices database
  • add additional information to the practices, by means of a second questionnaire
  • choose some practices as the basis for in-depth case studies
  • assess and benchmark the data with help of an eCompetence matrix

You can find a more detailed desription of the research process in the survey activities

b. project development activities

  • develop a community of practice portal that offers a set of eCommunication tools
  • base the agenda for the second project symposium on a set of research foci
  • start specific dissemination activities
