SECOND EUROPEAN eCOMPETENCE INITIATIVE SYMPOSIUM

NUIG clock tower

The second EU[eComp]Int symposium took place at NUI, Galway on April 14-15, 2005 and was hosted by the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at the National University of Ireland in Galway. The Galway symposium had two main objectives; the presentation of a number of eCompetence papers and an assessment session of the project status.

On the first symposium day the centrepiece of the Galway Symposium has been the presentation of a number of new papers concerning eCompetence that took place in four thematic sessions:

  • institutional support structures
  • supra-institutional level
  • examples of elearning in practice/providing elearning
  • new pedagogical concepts

On the second symposium day the survey team presented a detailed methodology for the case studies that are being collected and the expansion of the effective eCompetence practice database. The main focus of the second day was the assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the research and collaboration activities to date, and planning for the second term of the project.

The linked Galway synthesis pdf file summarises the major symposium outcomes.
